University of Central Arkansas’s first-ever Faculty Film Screening Sept 16

The University of Central Arkansas’s first-ever Faculty Film Screening will be held Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall. 

The screening, free and open to the public, will include recent films made by members of the Digital Filmmaking faculty.  “We’re really looking forward to the chance to show our work to our students and to the community at large,” said Joe Dull, assistant professor of digital filmmaking and coordinator of the screening event. “We’re very fortunate to be surrounded by people who support what we do, and this is a great chance to show the work that everyone’s helping to create.” 

 In past years, faculty members have shown their films individually in different venues, but this event will bring them all together with their films to showcase their work for the first time. Several films will premier; most involved UCA film students in small and large capacities.

The films to be screened include: 

Going to Hell — Directed by Dr. Bruce Hutchinson Three people have barricaded themselves in their house as a zombie epidemic spreads around the world. But for Hope and Isabel, the bigger problem is inside the house. Josh may be infected, and they don’t know what to do with him. 

The Proposal — Directed by Joe Dull Danny asks his girlfriend’s infant daughter for permission to marry her mommy. It doesn’t go well. 

The Darkroom — Directed by Eric Yang John, a divorced, old-school photographer who has spent his life dedicated to the discipline of his darkroom and art of photography, finds himself fighting for his craft and ultimately his livelihood. When his young manager gives him an ultimatum, he is faced with a decision that will define him not only as an artist, but also as a father. 

The Midterm, Incident — Directed by Joe Dull The curse of the misplaced comma! Jeremy must thwart both his professor and his beautiful nemesis Jessica to swap out his midterm in this spoof of action thrillers.  Starring: Rachel Miller — Directed by Joe Dull An experimental documentary/musical, this short film is the story of Rachel Miller who, after an on-stage accident leaves her as a walking paraplegic, can still sing and dance with the best of them. 

Chutes and Gates — Directed by Mike Gunter A young boy’s first trip to the farm as he learns his way around a cow, all the way around a cow.
