Veterans Appreciation Day set for Oct. 14, 10:30 a.m., at Stone Bank Pavilion in Mountain View; Ceremony to Honor Stone County Veterans 

The Annual Stone Bank Veterans Appreciation Day event is set for Oct. 14 at Stone Bank at 802 E. Main St. in Mountain View. 

The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will honor twelve Stone County Veterans with a presentation of flags flown over the U.S. Capitol, facilitated by the office of Sen. John Boozman. Local musicians, the Ozark Strangers will provide entertainment. 

Congressman Rick Crawford is scheduled to be in attendance to present the flags. Crawford and Colonel (U.S. Army, retired) Nathaniel “Nate” Todd, State Cabinet Secretary for the Arkansas Department of Veteran Affairs, will be featured speakers at the event. 

Posting of Colors: The Stone County Honor Guard (Veterans from various branches of the military)

Patriotic Music: Ms. McCool’s 4th grade class from Mountain View Elementary

Singing of the National Anthem: Brian McClung

Presentation of the Flags: Congressman Rick Crawford 

The program will recognize local Veterans and pay tribute to fallen Veterans.  The Veterans and their years of service to be recognized and presented with a flag include:

James Broyles – Navy 1957-1981

David Campbell – Army: 1971-1973

Curtis Fessler – Army: 1961-1964

Gary Don Fletcher – Army: 1968-1969

Wayne Fletcher – Navy: 1969-1973

Junior Kipfer – Army: 1969-1972

William Stroud – US Air Force: 1960-1964

Herman Sutterfield – Army: 1952-1954

Cleo Sutton – Army: 1962-1965

Steve Wilson – Army: 1968-1971

Allen Wroblewski – US Air Force: 1965-1985

A complimentary barbeque lunch prepared by Stone Bank Director Dr. Roger Helms and the Stone Bank Mountain View staff will be served to attendees.
