Volunteers Needed for Walkability Survey in Batesville

WHAT:  Fifty volunteers will survey convenience, barriers, and other features that make walking safe and easy or risky and difficult. Sponsors will report results to the Batesville City Council and recommend improvements to residential and commercial areas and access to schools and parks.
 
WHEN:  9:00 to 1:00 Wednesday, October 6, 2010 Morning refreshments and lunch will be served. T-shirts and Door Prizes!
 
WHERE:  Meet in First Community Bank “George Rider” meeting room at St. Louis & Harrison, travel to survey sites, then return to report results.
 
WHO:  We Need YOU To Volunteer by September 22!

Sponsors are UAMS North Central Area Health Education Center (AHEC-NC), Batesville AARP Chapter, and ArCOP’s “Healthy Batesville” project.
 
WHY:  Safe, pleasant routes people to walk for exercise, errands, and going to/from work or school. Walking improves health & quality of life. Each volunteer gets a T-shirt and may win a Door Prize!
