WCMC Accepting Summer Nursing Activities Program (SNAP) Applications

White County Medical Center is now accepting applications for the Summer Nursing Activities Program (SNAP), which is open to students who are going into the 8th and 9th grades in the Fall of 2014.

SNAP is a special summer enrichment program designed for students who are interested in a career in nursing as a profession. The three-day program offers students hands-on unique nursing activities and learning opportunities. Participants learn First Aid, CPR, healthy lifestyle habits and basic nursing skills.

“I am always uplifted by the students and their excitement and interest for the nursing profession,” said WCMC SNAP Coordinator Dee DeLoach. “This program allows students to gain insight into the variety of jobs available to nurses.”

Eligibility requirements include: a complete application form, due April 25; a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher; a Life Sciences course, completed or enrolled; two letters of recommendation about how the student will benefit from SNAP; a 50-75 word essay about participating; and, personal transportation to and from the hospital.

SNAP is open to students in Cleburne, Independence, Jackson, Prairie, White and Woodruff counties. The program will be held Monday, June 16 through Wednesday, June 18 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at WCMC’s South Campus. For more information about the program, please contact WCMC SNAP Coordinator Dee DeLoach at (501) 278-3189 or via email at ddeloach@wcmc.org.
