Winter Storm Snow Totals Forecast

In portions of central Arkansas, while there will be a wintry mix initially…some warming is expected to occur aloft as the storm system nears. This will lead to melting overhead and a cold rain through much of the 8th.It will be too warm for anything but rain in the south, with perhaps a brief period of sleet as precipitation begins.

As the system exits to the east during the evening of the 8th, snow will become more widespread on the back side of the system. That is about the time colder air will pour into the region behind the Arctic cold front.

Expected snow accumulations through 600 am CST on 02/09/2010. Heavy snow (more than 4 inches) is likely in most areas north of Little Rock (Pulaski County). There may be locally more than 8 inches. This will depend on how much sleet mixes with the snow.
