The 11th annual Ozark Foothills FilmFest, March 28 to April 1 at various venues in Batesville, will include a Screenwriting Workshop by writer/director Zack Godshall, “Writing Engaging and Dramatic Screenplays.” Godshall was a guest at the 2011 festival, where he screened his documentary God’s Architects and received the Audience Favorite Award.
After earning an MFA in Film Directing at UCLA in 2005, Godshall went on to write, direct and produce three feature films, including Low and Behold and Lord Byron, both of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Lord Byron was subsequently named a Critics Pick by the New York Times. Godshall lives in South Louisiana where he works to find new methods to make films that challenge generic boundaries. While serving as the Screenwriter-in-Residence at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, he is also developing a new documentary and raising money for a new feature film based on an original screenplay.
The workshop will be held in the historic Landers Theater at 332 E. Main Street in downtown Batesville from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break from noon to 1:00 p.m. Tuition for the workshop is $25 for participants who have also entered the 2011 Ozark Foothills FilmFest Screenwriting Competition and $40 for other participants. Workshop participants are also invited to attend the Screenwriting Competition reception and awards program that evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Bevins Music Room on the campus of Lyon College. Ozark Foothills FilmFest, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit educational corporation, founded in 2001.
